Essay # 1 According to many of the theorist in the classical era/period of public administration (PA), the prevailing thought was that PA should be studied as its own individual field of study and not embodied within political science, management or law. The belief in the classical period that Public Administration should be studied as its own individual field of study and not embodied within political science, management or law was a rational assumption. According to â€Å"Public administration: An Introduction,† some of the scholars in the field of public administration, including Woodrow Wilson and Frank Goodnow agreed that administration and politics should be separated from each other. Wilson stated that â€Å"the business of government is to organize the common interest against the special interest (Holzer Schwester, 2013).† The government has accountability to guarantee the citizen’s safety, health, and well-being. Therefore, there are many organizations controlled by the government that help ensure well-being of the citizen. For instance, Food and Drug Safety programs (FDA), which is a program within the Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for protecting the public health. Federal eme rgency Response is responsible for ensuring the nation is protected against all hazards.
